Townsville is located 1,339km north of Brisbane via the Bruce Highway. It is 137km north east of Charters Towers and 347km south of Cairns. 

Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. With a population of 180,820 it is the largest settlement in North Queensland and is unofficially considered its capital.
